Policy Note: Equitable Excise Policy And Cigarette Prices Towards A Superior Indonesian Society
The tobacco product excise policy is always a polemic between the industry, government, and society. This policy is a two-edged sword for the economy and public health sector. The increase in excise rates has a direct impact on cigarette prices. This is also one of the main reasons for its gradual increase yearly, besides the state revenue.
The Center of Human and Development (CHED), Ahmad Dahlan Institute of Technology and Business, Jakarta, compiled an analysis related to the most relevant policies for regulating National Tobacco Control in a Policy Note entitled "Equitable Excise Policy and Cigarette Prices Towards a Superior Indonesian Society." This document serves as material for the government's consideration in formulating a balanced, stable, and definite Tobacco Excise (CHT) policy based on empirical studies complemented by the field's facts.
